Saumya guides policy priorities and strategic planning, using data and evidence to improve systems and outcomes for our clients. She advises leadership on legislative and policy developments and works closely with justice system partners. Before joining the Public Defender’s Office, Saumya served as a policy advisor in Harris County Commissioners Court offices. Dr. Rana holds a Ph.D. in Economics and brings a passion for reform rooted in evidence and data.
