No More Papercuts: Legal Research in the Digital Age

Topic: Sharpen your legal research skills at his practical, interactive training on online legal research tools, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, and similar platforms. At this CLE, our speaker will review fundamental legal research skills, refresh your knowledge about online research tools that you already use, and offer new tips and strategies to get better and faster answers to your legal research questions. Bring your computers and get ready to apply what you learn in real time.

Speaker: Amanda Peters serves as Associate Dean for Faculty and Professor of Law. She teaches Legal Research and Writing, Texas Criminal Procedure, Criminal Litigation Drafting, and Negotiation Skills for Criminal Practitioners. She has received faculty awards for teaching and scholarship and has held two peer-nominated research professorships. Her criminal law and procedure articles have been published in the Boston College, Alabama, Utah, Pepperdine, Florida State, Baylor, Lewis and Clark, and Oregon Law Reviews, among others. Her textbook Texas Criminal Procedure is used in law schools across the state. Before joining the faculty in 2007, she worked as an Assistant District Attorney and a criminal defense attorney in Houston for 11 years. She tried 40 misdemeanor and felony jury trials and authored nearly 200 appellate briefs. She earned her J.D. and B.A. from Texas Tech. She was a published member of the Texas Tech Law Review, where she received a Best Editor award while serving as a Casenote/Comment Editor.
